Deontology
Deontology is a set of rules and ethical principles that guide professional practice. For an alternative therapist who is not a health professional, it is important to follow ethical principles to ensure the safety, well-being and satisfaction of patients. The consultations offered by Mutus Liber are not part of a medical or paramedical approach, and are not intended to treat a disease.
The sessions offered by Mutus Liber should never delay, replace or cancel a medical consultation. The sessions can be used as an accompaniment to or complement to medical care, but in no way replace it.
Here are a few principles that guide my practice through the disciplines I practice:
1. Respect for patients: Treat all patients with dignity, respect and empathy, without discrimination based on age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation or socio-economic status.
2. Confidentiality: Protect the confidentiality of patients' personal and medical information and share it only with the patient's consent or as required by law.
3. Informed consent: Provide patients with clear and understandable information about proposed treatments, their potential effects and associated risks, so that they can make an informed decision.
4. Professional competence: Make sure you have the skills and knowledge needed to offer alternative medicine treatments. Keep up to date with advances and best practices in your field.
5. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and integrated patient care. Respect the limits of your competence and refer patients to qualified healthcare professionals when necessary.
6. Honesty and integrity: Be honest and transparent in your communications with patients and other healthcare professionals. Do not misrepresent treatments, results or qualifications.
7. Conflicts of interest: Avoid conflicts of interest that could influence your professional judgment or compromise the quality of care you provide.
8. Responsible advertising: Present your services and skills accurately, honestly and responsibly, without false guarantees or unrealistic promises.
9. Professional responsibility: Consider the safety and well-being of patients in all your actions and decisions. Report any incident or problem that could affect patient safety.
10. Compliance with laws and regulations: Comply with all applicable laws and regulations concerning the practice of alternative medicine in your jurisdiction.
